Well it’s all over for 2008 now.. it’s been a good championship and there have been up’s as well as a few downs along the way.
Round 1: Used the Xray 12th car and put in 30 laps. The car felt nice and easy to drive but didn’t feel quick at any point. I need to take a look at gearing though because I simply cannot fit a bigger pinion than a 36 on it.
Round 2: Used the bmi DB12R and ended up on 31 laps, not much in it overall, but a slower lap than the Xray (13.82 compared to 13.80)
Round 3: Had the Xray X11 again but did 2 laps as I one of the battery bars came unsoldered.
Round 4: Put the bmi back on the track, but made some setup changes (pink rears, and double pink fronts, and also 0.5 shim under the front of the flex plate). This was with the aim of making the car rotate more and boy did it work :) Thanks to Jason for the setup tips !!
A quick lap of 13.32 and overall 34 laps to put me in 5th place in the A final !
In the final, it was me in 5th, Terry in 7th (32 laps) and Phil in 8th (32 laps also)
I ended up 4th on 34 laps with Terry in 5th on 30 laps and Phil 9th after having problems with the car and pulling out after 16 laps.
This result meant I finished 4th overall for the championship behind:
Mark Green
Jason Butterfield
Luke Burley
considering the calibre of the guys who competed in the championship, I’m over the moon with where I finished up :)
This sort of finishes the winter racing (12th scale) for me, other than 1 more round at Sidcup, so the next racing will be touring cars outdoors, where I’m competing at the STCC and TC Nationals this year. No doubt I’ll be dead last after most rounds, but if last years STCC was anything to go by, I’ll be having a blast doing it !
