Monday was Finals day (although there was one qualifier left early in the morning)
The finals were to be run over 3 legs, with the best two results to count for you.
Final 1:
Charlie ended up 8th in his first final as he had radio problems and couldn't go out.
Tristan won his first final, and was in good shape for the next one.
Next up was Phil and myself. Phil had a problem with his car which became apparent at the buzzer to start the race when his car shot off the line and turned right into the wall along the straight. I ended up 3rd in the final.
Steve was up next and ended up last in his final as he got bashed about a lot.
Final 2:
Charlie: Clive sorted out Charlie's radio problems for him and he ended up 2nd in the final.
Tristan: Ended up 5th in the final, but had a win in the bag from the previous final.
Phil: Ended up 8th again with another problem in the car.
Steve: Ended up 7th after a good run spoiled by a broken motor shaft.
Myself: Having had a bad 2nd round qualifier and tracing the problem to a diff issue, I had rebuilt the diff. I didn't know that the screw holding the diff together was not quite the right size (I think it's worn slightly). Brian Eldridge from the Xray factory team helped me out with this and rebuilt the diff for me between final 1 and 2. I ended up winning this final :)
Final 3:
Charlie: Won this final to secure an overall result of 2nd.
Tristan: Lapped the field in this final for an overall 1st.
Phil: Had a complete run this time round and finished 7th in the final, giving him and overall 8th in this final.
Myself: I finished 6th in this one, having crashed out early on and being dead last after a couple of laps. This, along with the win by Mark, meant that I ended up 2nd overall in this one.
Steve: Got a proper run in, although he was still bashed about a lot. He ended up 4th for an overall 5th.
The top three in each final at the KO Grand Prix get a trophy, so mine is sitting pretty on the coffee table at the moment :)
