Once in a blue moon

I don't normally get to race at Maritime normally as it's a bit too far to get to after work on a Thursday evening, but I had a day off this week so I headed down there for the evening.

The facility that the guys have puts together down there is one of the best in the south east (if not the whole of the UK).

The usual race director is on holiday at the moment, so there were a few glitches in getting the meeting underway, but once that was done everything seemed to run smoothly.

I was placed in the third heat for qualifying and managed to squeeze into the B final on the 7th grid position after three rounds.

In the final however, there were a few more incidents than I'd like and I ended up going from third all the way back to 8th by the time it was all said and done. I had half a rear wing (it's amazing how much difference that makes) and one of the driveshafts had come apart so whenever I hit the brakes the car would spin 180 degrees. I was lucky nobody had a really bad crash with me towards the end of the race as the car was all over the place, pulling left then snatching to the right.
