West Kent August 3rd

Went along to West Kent on Sunday for a bit of fun as Terry had said he had a 6.5 to race with. Arrived there and it was raining, so that meant we were going indoors to race on carpet. I thought about putting the 6.5 away and racing with the 008 and the 13.5, but ended up sticking with the 007 and 6.5.
Terry turned up with the other car and a 13.5 ready, so no 6.5 for him that day, but Phil borrowed my speed passion 6.5 to have a play with :)

I had quite a bad run through qualifying and only managed to do one heat in the end.

Round1: Transponder wasn't counting laps so it said I ended up on 16, with Phil on 17 even though he pulled out at about the 3 minute mark and I finished the race.... had a few laps ranging from 30-50 seconds (normal lap was about 10/11) so there were quite a few missed there. Also had a problem with the rear diff having a flat spot in it, so the rear end was sliding quite a lot... not what you want with a 6.5 in !!!

Round2: Changed the diff, but the spur gave up as the race started, so that was me out... When I went back to the pits, my power supply decided that it had had enough and wanted to go home. It showed this by letting out a puff of smoke and switching off :)

Round 3: Luckily I had a battery ready and a spare one charged, so no need for charging or the power supply. The car felt nice, and I ended up with 26 laps (6th on the grid for the finals)

Final: Got heavily bashed around (which is a big part of why I don't like racing indoors at West Kent), and finished 6th or something.

Good to see friends and spend a bit of time racing, but I think in future I'll be heading to Maritime on a Saturday unless there's racing elsewhere on a Sunday.
